Here you go dad – Le Croque Monsieur is a lunchtime legend, something you can always depend on when travelling through France, but it’s also handy for evening eating. Just stick a salad on the side and you’ve got all your food groups covered! While women tuck into this just as heartily as men (and they have their own version ‘Croque Madame’) this is a mean offering for father’s day, happening in New Zealand this Sunday. The past week has been all good with TWO nominations in the NZ Guild of Foodwriters Culinary Quills awards. The first, for my book Julie Biuso At Home, and the second for Shared Kitchen, a Visual Quill for Chelsea Buns. Read more about the Guild and how to order a signed copy of Julie Biuso At Home here. You’ll also find everything you need to know about cavolo nero. Now is a great time to eat it in NZ as it improves after a little frost and has a good growth spurt come spring. For those with a sweet tooth, you’ve got to try my gluten-free chocolate figgy torte. And there are some more merry travels from Ilaria. Happy reading and cooking!
