‘My book offers readers an inventive and
original collection of recipes. My wish is that it helps them enjoy making food
everyday for themselves and their loved ones, celebrating cooking as a daily
opportunity for delight and creativity.’ — Aaron Brunet
Admired for his relaxed attitude and passion and talent for
cooking superb food, Aaron Brunet was
picked by many early on to win MasterChef NZ. Here he opens the door to his
life in beautiful laid-back Raglan and delivers his favourite recipes.
His recipes cover all food styles, as befits his great love
of food. They include quick and easy food for the busy week days; delicious
recipes for social get-togethers on summery Saturdays; treats to experiment
with on wintery Sundays; a fun Mexican feast; dishes from Aaron’s European
family heritage; his famous bread recipes; and tasty vegetarian goodies.
There’s something in this book for every food mood.
With clever tips and lots of encouragement to try different
things, this is a book to enjoy and use every day. The beautiful photographs,
which include shots of the gorgeous Raglan environment, and styling also make
it a book to savour and be inspired by.
As Aaron explains, ‘My book is a taste of our life in
Raglan. The food we eat is influenced by what is happening on a given day, and
is generally creative yet simple, using affordable ingredients.’
‘If it’s a busy weekday we tend to want easy tasty meals
while on a rainy Sunday there’s nothing better than spending time together in
the kitchen, taking on a bit of a challenge and enjoying the journey as much as
the results.’
‘I have a deep love of good bread and devote a chapter to
sharing the concepts and techniques of making outstanding sourdough, as well as
ways to use leftover bread.’
‘We love to celebrate the different stages we go through.
Yoga is a big part of our lives and we take delight in making really yummy
life-enhancing food. At the same time we’re not all serious about it and love
nothing more than having friends around for a raucous Mexican dinner party. ‘
‘I share some family favourites from my mother’s European
upbringing as well as dishes that came from the Masterchef experience.’
‘Throughout the book I want to invite the reader to stand
beside me and enjoy cooking, picking up new techniques along the way, growing
in confidence and ability.’
Born in Nelson, Aaron Brunet was an IT consultant living in
Raglan until he won MasterChef NZ in 2012. Of Italian and Slovenian extraction,
he learned to cook from his mother, and he loves cooking with a passion. Aaron
is very thoughtful and loves nothing better than dreaming up and creating
culinary delights. Interested in the culinary arts, he will play with
ingredients and techniques until he gets the desired results.
‘This book offers an inside look at the
food my family and I love and eat at home, from quick tasty meals on busy
weekdays to dishes I love to make on the weekend. There are also offerings from
my European family heritage, my favourite style of easy Mexican entertaining
and tasty vegetarian dishes inspired by our home yoga studio life.’ — Aaron
