Easy Eats | Balmoral School, Editor: LeeAnn Yare
Edited by designer and bestselling author LeeAnn Yare and including recipes from some of our top celebrity chefs this book is great value at $45.00.
The team at Balmoral School decided a cookbook would be a great fundraising project and having a bestselling author in their midst it was never going to be ‘just another fundraising cookbook’.
LeeAnn Yare, co-author of two bestselling books, New Zealand Interior Style and Rooms to Love, a regular contributor to interior magazines both in New Zealand and around the globe had the knowledge and contacts and the publishing experience to help drive this project.
So with Penguin RandomHouse on board to produce and print it, an enthusiastic group of parents who had a myriad of amazing family friendly recipes, a photographer who has worked for major magazines this project was always set to be a huge success. The team took it really seriously too, there were several tastings so the recipes have been tried and tested on the group more than once, they did their research to ensure all the ingredients are readily available all around the country and even the design of the book was a carefully planned process to ensure it looked great but still delivered family friendly recipes that looked appealing.
The result is a beautiful hard cover book that contains over 80 recipes and will be just as at home sitting on coffee tables around the country as it will be in the kitchen bookshelves.
Along with parents, teachers, neighbours, students and staff of the school the team also managed to convince some of our biggest foodie names to contribute a favourite recipe. So amongst the fabulous home grown recipes are ones from Simon Gault, Josh Emmett, Michael Meredith, Natalie Oldfield, the 2014 MasterChef finalists, Nikki and Jordan Shearer and several businesses like Bluebells Cakery and Little Bird Unbakery.
The photo shoot for the book was even a community project with each contributor to the book maing their recipe and bringing it along to be photographed so what you see is the actual ‘made with love’ version.
The aim of the organising team was to produce a quality book that would be handed down for generations to come and that is exactly what they have achieved.
