Gourmand Awards: Julie Biuso lines up against Jamie Oliver and others

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards return to China after five years in France, to be part of the Beijing Cookbook Fair from 19-21 May. New Zealand publishers are recognized by having many finalists at the prestigious awards.

 Julie Biuso at Home published by New Holland, will face off at the global finals against six other titles from Australia and the Northern Hemisphere in the Easy Recipes section, including Neil Perry's Simply Good Food and Jamie Oliver's Save with Jamie.

 Other Kiwi cookbooks lining up against worldwide competition in the many sections of the Gourmand awards are: Cut - Josh Emett, Random House NZ; Nadia’s Good Food Cookbook - Nadia Lim, Random House NZ; Alice in Bakingland - Alice Arndell, Harper Collins NZ; Gran’s Sweet Pantry - Natalie Oldfield, Harper Collins NZ; Cook Eat Enjoy - Nici Wickes, Harper Collins NZ; The Food Truck No. 2 - Michael Van de Elzen, Random House NZ; Munch, Seasonal Cookbook for Baby and Family - Anna Bordignon; Everlasting Feast - Lauraine Jacobs, Random House NZ; Bluebells Cakery - Karla Goodwin, Random House NZ.

And finally, in the charity and fundraising section, A Taste of Windows by Waikato Institute of Technology tutors Barry Finch, Brent McCully, and Amy Opperman, is another nominated title. Put together by the tutors and students of Wintec, who operate the Windows Restaurant on campus, $6 dollars from every cookbook sold is donated to the Child Matters charity.
