We are so excited to be part of Choice TV’s new local series, Cook the Books. A show that celebrates cookbooks and their famous authors - starting this Thursday, 30 October, at 8.30pm on Choice TV.
Hosted by broadcaster & fantastic foodie Carly Flynn, Cook the Books gives viewers a chance to meet New Zealand’s own celebrity chefs, writers and culinary stars, and get up close with some of the NZ cookbooks we love.
Some cookbooks are beautiful to look at; others contain stories as well as recipes; some contain exotic ingredients; while others feature simple meals that can be made at home in just a few minutes. Whatever the style, and whatever the motivation for buying them, Kiwis’ are passionate consumers of cookbooks, with many titles sitting on the national best-seller list for months, sometimes years.
Filmed in our Shop, Garden & kitchen "Cook the Books" sees Carly chat & cook with the likes of Al Brown; Simon Gault; Nadia Lim; Martin Bosley; Robert Oliver; Lauraine Jacobs; Chelsea Winter; and Michael Van de Elzen, to celebrate their life in food and share their recipes and secrets of success.
In Episode One Al Brown join Carly in our kitchen where he prepares two mouthwatering dishes from his new cookbook, Depot, and a surprise recipe that is an interesting take on a Kiwi favourite. Carly also heads out to visit Karla Goodwin at her exquisite suburban cake store Bluebell’s Cakery that has inspired a book of the same name.
