Meet the team

We cornered the talented Alastair Maling MW for a bit of Q&A...
Your title and time at Villa Maria?
GM Winemaking & Viticulture and I joined in 2002

What did you do before Villa Maria?
I was based in the UK working as a flying winemaker in France, Spain, Italy, Chile, Argentina and South Africa. Sounds like a tough life doesn't it!

Villa Maria in 3 words?  intense, passionate, reputable

Your favourite variety?
That's a very difficult question to a winemaker - at the moment probably Chardonnay and Pinot Noir

What do you do in your spare time?
I try and spend as much time as possible with the family, or out doing some exercise. Any chance to entertain/catch up with friends is always high on the agenda.

If you weren't a winemaker what would you be?
The All Blacks coach

Which famous person would you love to have to dinner with?
Prince Harry
