Julie Biuso says enjoy the warm weather and the abundance of summer produce to be had for a song. ...

It's hot in the kitchen ...Now is the time to look for no-fuss recipes, things that can be prepared early on in the day before the kitchen turns into a furnace.

Oh, how I love this tomato dish! It makes an elegant starter as the picture shows, but arranged on fresh bread, it's a lovely slurpy sort of lunch to eat on the run (or at the kitchen sink!), or dished onto toasted bruschetta and cut into smaller pieces, it's perfect with early evening drinks.
And plums! Yes, they are ripening and soon to be falling off trees. Get yourself ready with this recipe for plum tart. It's sweet, tart, crunchy and tender, all in one mouthful.
And kachumbar. Yep, kachumbar. You should try it when you want something more than just a salad, something with punch, something with a fresh clean bite of green chilli. It'll lift barbecue meats to a new height, and is truly sensational with barbecued fish. Learn all about tamarind, too. It has dozens of uses, and not all of them culinary.
And, there's my latest Island Life blog, too – a vain attempt to get rid of fluffybums from my garden.
Enjoy the warm weather and the abundance of summer produce to be had for a song.
